Javelin Glass Computer Desk Clear Glass/Pewter Frame Review

I needed to set up a little functional office area in my house to do some freelance photo work on my iMac, which previously lived in my bedroom on the dresser. I didn't need anything too elaborate (with me, less is more). I went to Comp USA, Staples, Office Depot (I like to see in person, then purchase online when possible) and finally Frys. I found this desk at Frys; perfect. Love at first sight, no contest.

It was only $100 there (up to twice as expensive for same model online) and it was by far better than all the other cheezy laminated heavy desks I'd seen. The steel frame is sturdy and putting it together was an easy 2-beer project. The tempered glass top is nice although I wish it were a little thicker, but then, nothing but my iMac sits on top along with my inbox for bills and mail. The keyboard shelf is metal and works smoothly. I really like the industrial, clean look and this desk is perfect for me. I use the lower hanging shelf to hold my printer (since I have an iMac) which is super handy. It comes with a couple of big rubber "clips" to help organize cords at the back. It's perfect, and I love it. I recommend it!

Home Star Merlot Collection File Cabinet Review

As stated in previous reviews, this cabinet is mostly easy to assemble, with the exception of the corner brackets.Impossible to screw in those corner brackets when the cabinet is assembled.Plus, the screws are very cheap screws that are not wood screws.There is a significant gap between the drawers once assembled.One of the drawers does not slide well and seems to slip off its track occasionally. The color of the cabinet is nice but the finish is not done well.I feel I need to be very careful pulling out the drawers as the cabinet just does not feel very sturdy.If you want a file cabinet that looks pretty, is fairly economical compared to other non-metal file cabinets, and won't be used often, this may still be an acceptable choice.

Ponderosa Corner Lap Top Desk - Pine(28 x 28 x 30) Review

I needed a corner desk for my computer and this seemed to fit the bill.I do not use a laptop, but have a thin computer (I use a Mac) with a small footprint and only the mouse and keyboard attached.This desk fits nicely into a corner and is the perfect height for a working desk.It is easily assembled with each of the four legs simply having a threaded bolt in the top which is screwed directly into the underside of the desk and requires no tools.Unfortunately, my own desk arrived with the drawer incompletely assembled (the sliding mechanism on one side was completely unattached); I was able to align it and use some self-tapping screws to mount it to the drawer without difficulty, but this could be problematic if you don't have the necessary equipment or wherewithal.

The color is as represented in the photo, as is the shape and cut of the wood.The drawer is actually a keyboard drawer with a fold-down front (which seems strange on a desk designed for use with a laptop).I'm using mine to actually hold some pens and pads and the fold-down front opens a bit too easily for my taste, but that would be a plus if you're planing the keep the keyboard there.There is no specific hole for a wire to connect keyboard to computer, so that would simply have to run under the table if you store a wired keyboard in the drawer.There isn't really sufficient room in the drawer to use a mouse, so that would require the use of the desktop, which is large enough for that.I have both my keyboard and mouse on the desktop with my computer and do not have any difficulty with space or movement.

The dimensions are as documented, with each of the backs being 28 inches and the height of the desk being 30 inches, so you'll have to take that into account if your corner is somewhat small.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the furniture, though the fact that the drawer wasn't completed was disappointing.
